Foster Carers: Support and Training
Support and Training
Development Workers
It takes more than equipment to support children in education, so our development workers, based throughout Northern Ireland, are available to help you build the skills and confidence you need to support those you care for.
Our experienced workers can:
- provide help and advice to you on making the best use of the funds available within this scheme.
- provide one to one support sessions and accompany you to meetings with schools if necessary.
- identify local sources of help for you and, where appropriate the young people, to help reduce the isolation and social exclusion they may feel. E.g. youth clubs, drama classes, tutors etc
- help you to identify gaps in your own knowledge and skills and enable you to access the appropriate training.
Training
Workshops are run throughout Northern Ireland to provide you with essential skills. These cover IT skills, child protection and internet safety, how to help children acquire literacy and numeracy skills, as well as workshops on how the education system works and how to advocate successfully for a child in your care.
Please email us or call us on 028 9070 8731 to book your place.
