Fostering Achievement is five!
The successes of children and young people involved in Fostering Achievement were celebrated on Tuesday 4 October at an event at Stormont to mark the pioneering project’s fifth birthday.
Over 70 foster carers, young people, social workers and MLAs gathered in the Long Gallery to hear a range of speakers talk about the project, which is run by the Fostering Network Northern Ireland. These included care experienced young people Jamie Lee Christie and Mark Kidd, foster carer Margaret Dunn, Liz Shaw, principal social worker for Regional Health and Social Care Board, and Ian Allen from the Northern Trust, all sharing their perspectives on Fostering Achievement.
Displays around the gallery showcased some of the amazing activity undertaken by young people over the past five years. Films highlighting the best of Fostering Achievement and the Letterbox Club were shown ahead of closing remarks from director of the Fostering Network Northern Ireland, Kate Lewis. The event was sponsored by MLAs Sammy Douglas, Paul Maskie and Robin Newton.
