Application Form


To be eligible for the Fostering Achievement scheme the child or young person must

  • Have been in care for more than three months
  • Be aged 0 - 17 years (inclusive) or 18 if in full-time education 
  • Be in an approved Foster Placement

Please note young people on residence orders are not eligible for the scheme.

Educational credits may be used to purchase facilities and materials to aid and improve education such as tuition, driving lessons or activities for young people.


Development Workers

Our Fostering Achievement Development Workers, based throughout Northern Ireland, are available to help you build the skills and confidence you need to support those you care for.


Our experienced development workers can:

  • provide help and advice to you on making the best use of the funds available within this scheme.
  • provide one to one support sessions and accompany you to meetings with schools if necessary.
  • identify local sources of help for you and, where appropriate the young people, to help reduce the isolation and social exclusion they may feel. E.g. youth clubs, drama classes, tutors etc
  • help you to identify gaps in your own knowledge and skills and enable you to access the appropriate training.
  • Signpost to other organisations for information or support
